Teamwork seems pretty straight forward at first thought. Well...not really. There is so much that goes behind a good team. Whether this is knowing when to step back as a leader or stepping up to become a leader, numerous aspects go into making sure a team project goes smoothly. One of the biggest, and what I think is the most important, qualities of teamwork is communication. Communication can either save a team, or on the other hand, destroy a team.
Teamwork Foundations, created by Chris Croft, explains in detail how communication is integrated within teamwork. It showcases how great teamwork can be accomplished without management. It all revolves around knowing you and your team's strengths and weaknesses and how you optimally work with them. He also talks more about conflict management and how to build trust within the team. All the skills he teaches helps deliver great results at the end. What I liked most about this course is how he breaks down the importance of each skill within a team. It really shows how essential it is to know how to work in a team.
What I learned:
- Opening with an open ended question (Helps those who are quieter speak up)
- Switching roles depending on the task
- Supporting is just as important as leading
- Creating trust within the group
- Knowing strengths and weaknesses
