Resumes are hard, I think we all know that from personal experience. For me, I have been building my resume since grade 9 civic and careers. Almost 4 years later, it is still is a confusing process when I try to create that PERFECT resume that showcases my skills and abilities that I have developed over countless opportunities and challenges. To me, my resume is always going to be something that is constantly going to be built on over the next 4 years, but how to make it visually appealing and represent me truly is still a concern.
Today, I want to introduce a wonderful 1-hour program by Jenny Foss called "Resume Makeover". Her expertise and knowledge are shared through this amazing program on how to perfect your resume. With her industry experience, she helps others understand what your resume should highlight and what key aspects are looked for by the majority of recruiters.
What I love about this course is she not only breaks down what a resume needs but why it is needed in the views of recruiters. She explains why recruiters are looking for specific aspects and how to shine bright in a pile of 100 or maybe more resumes.
What I learned:
- What goes on after you send your resume?
- The fundamentals of an amazing resume
- Resumes are a type of Marketing, Don't make it an auto-biography
- Don't use 3rd person
- Every word count, use each word carefully
- Knowing keywords for the job line you are aiming for
- Don't over bulk your resume, keep it straight to the point
